My Own Step-By-Step Solution to Finding Answer to Today’s Wordle
1st Word – ERUPT
All right. So let’s start with our very first 5-letter word that I used in today’s NY Times Wordle, ERUPT. With only one (and that too an unpopular) vowel, I wasn’t expecting anything from it. Still, it gave me a yellow block at the third spot with the letter U in it which I gladly accepted.
2nd Word – ALBUM
For my second attempt, I was thinking of using a word starting with the letter U but I couldn’t think of any word that didn’t have any of the letters already used in the first attempt and they appeared in black blocks. So, I decided to shift the letter U to the 4th spot and entered ALBUM.
This gave me another letter, A in a yellow block right at the beginning. The letter U at the 4th spot was again in yellow.
3rd Word – HUMAN
For my third attempt, I used HUMAN. Although it wasn’t the best of the choices as the letter M was already used in the first attempt and it showed up in a black block which meant that it is not part of the puzzle but I still used this word as a deliberate attempt to figure out the exact position of the letter U and my gamble paid off. HUMAN gave me the exact position of the letter U at the second spot. Although the letter A against appeared in yellow but it also gave me an additional yellow block with the letter N in it right at the end.
4th Word – NUBIA
On 4th attempt, I tried NUBIA which essentially gave me nothing as N and A were in yellow blocks and the letter U in a green block. Superficially, although it looked like that NUBIA wasn’t useful but it helped me figure out the correct word which I eventually did on the 5th attempt.
5th Word – GUANO
With the knowledge that the letter A isn’t in the positions, 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th and the letter N isn’t in the positions 1st and 5th, I figured that today’s Wordle is made up of the combination, UAN. Combining this information with the on-ground situation of unused letters, I eventually figured out what the correct word is. So for my 5th attempt, I typed, GUANO and that’s how I solved the Wordle Of The Day.
