My Step-By-Step Solution to Finding Answer to Today’s Wordle

So you want to see how I finally solved today’s NY Times Wordle? Here’s a video representation of my thought process.

1st Word – BROKE

By now, you shouldn’t be surprised by my choice of the 5-letter word to start off today’s NY Times Wordle. Since, yesterday’s Wordle 672 – Published on Apr 22, 2023, had the correct word BROKE, as part of my self-imposed rule, I started with this word today and boy, this proved to be a disaster.

BROKE gave me not a single yellow or green block. Although not totally in vain, but my first attempt wasn’t that fruitful.

2nd Word – DAISY

The second word DAISY was just an educated guess. More like shooting in the dark but with a predetermined range.

I used DAISY because the first attempt showed that the two vowels O and E weren’t part of today’s puzzle. So I was almost sure that either one of the two vowels, A or I should be in there.

I was partly correct as DAISY gave me a yellow block on the third spot with the letter I in it.

3rd Word – NIGHT

By the time I reached the third attempt, I had already struck off 9 letters from my list and I still wasn’t sure about the only letter, I’s exact position.

Therefore, I chose NIGHT for my third attempt to primarily confirm the position of I.

Although, I didn’t succeed in it but NIGHT hinted to me of another letter, N on the first spot.

So now, I knew that in addition to I, N is also in there somewhere. I just had to figure out where.

4th Word – INCUR

Since N wasn’t in the first position, I decided to try it in the second spot. Hence, I chose, INCUR for my fourth attempt.

INCUR not only confirmed me the exact position of the letter N (2nd spot) but also gave me another yellow block in the 4th position with the letter U in it.

So by the end of the fourth attempt, I knew the exact position of the letter N along with the information that the letters I and U are also part of the puzzle.

5th Word – UNFIX

By the time I reached the 5th attempt, it became clear to me that today’s word starts with the prefix, UN.

Therefore, glancing at the virtual keyboard to see which letters haven’t been used already, I started to formulate words from the remaining letters with UN in the beginning.

So, for my 5th attempt, I used UNFIX.

Although UNFIX did confirm my suspicions by confirming the exact position of the letter U and the letter I (1st and 4th spots respectively) but I still had to figure out two more letters with only one attempt left.

6th Word – UNZIP

The 6th attempt for me was like walking on very thin ice. I had only one attempt but more than one potential candidate. First, I thought of using UNPIN but discarded this idea as the letter was repeating twice. Although, this wasn’t the best of the reasons but I had another candidate, UNZIP with all the unique letters in it. Therefore, I was more inclined toward it.

So I entered this in the grid and found it quite relieving when I saw all the blocks finally turning green and that’s how I solved the Wordle Of The Day.

Wordle 673 – UNZIP – Meaning

UNZIP is a verb that means open or unfasten a zip. As a verb, In modern times, it also means to decompress a compressed file using a compression tool called, WINZIP.
